Studio Resume is a free online resume builder that helps you create ATS-optimized, print-ready PDF resumes — no sign-up, no subscription, and your data never leaves your browser. This guide walks you through every step to build a polished resume that both hiring managers and applicant tracking systems (ATS) can read and index perfectly.
Over 75% of large employers use an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to screen resumes before a human ever sees them. ATS software scans your resume for keywords, section headings, and structured content. If your formatting is too complex — multi-column layouts, embedded graphics, or tables — the ATS may fail to parse your resume, and your application gets rejected before review. Studio Resume's templates are designed to produce clean, single-column, text-based layouts that ATS scanners parse accurately.
Open the Resume Studio editor at the home page. You'll see a split view with an editor pane on the left and a live preview on the right. The preview updates in real time as you type.
Expand the Identity and Contact panel. Fill in your full name, professional headline (e.g., "Senior Software Engineer | Cloud & DevOps"), email, phone, location, website, and social links. A strong headline with role keywords helps both ATS matching and recruiter skimming.
In the Summary and Keywords panel, write a 2–3 sentence professional summary that includes industry keywords, years of experience, and your primary skills. The word counter helps you stay in the recommended 50–90 word range. Add your skills as comma-separated terms — these become keyword targets for ATS scanners.
Under Experience, add each role with company name, location, and date range. For each role, write bullet points in the highlights field (one per line). Each bullet should start with a strong action verb and include measurable impact where possible (e.g., "Reduced deployment time by 40% through CI/CD pipeline automation"). You can reorder, duplicate, or delete entries using the action buttons.
Add degrees, institutions, and graduation dates under Education. List certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, PMP) and languages separately — these are often hard requirements that ATS filters check against.
Showcase side projects, open-source contributions, or freelance work under Projects. Include a role, summary, link, and bullet highlights. Projects demonstrate initiative and technical breadth, especially for tech and creative roles.
Switch to the Design tab to choose a template:
Adjust your accent color, typography scale (Compact/Standard/Large), and enable Dense spacing mode to fit more content on one page. Use the Section Layout & Columns controls to toggle sections on/off and set left/right column placement for each section.
Go to the Export tab to download your resume:
ATS Tip: For ATS-heavy applications, use the Atlas or Monarch template, keep a single-column layout, and use the native Print function to generate a text-searchable PDF via your browser's "Save as PDF" option.

Studio Resume does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All resume data — including your name, contact details, work history, and design preferences — is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage and cookies. We do not have access to your data.
Studio Resume uses browser localStorage to persist your resume data between sessions. Theme preference is also stored locally in your browser. Studio Resume uses first-party aggregate analytics to understand site usage; resume content is never sent to analytics. Advertising and personalization signals are disabled.
Studio Resume bundles font and icon assets with the application and sends aggregate usage analytics through its own server endpoint. Analytics providers may receive standard HTTP request data (IP address, user agent) as part of event processing. Studio Resume does not share any user-generated content with third parties.
Since your data never leaves your device, Studio Resume's security model is inherently private. We recommend exporting a JSON backup of your resume periodically via the Export tab for safekeeping.
